How to append two strings together?

Postby Cheryl » Wed Mar 12, 2014 9:19 am

A customer emailed in with a good question so I thought I would share it with the forum. The question was how to append two strings together in the RUG3.

The easiest way to do this is to use the 'SendStrToPort' module. If the string is to simply be used in the program (and never sent out a port) then the "Port #" field can be left blank and the "Output string max chars" should be specified to create space in memory for the new string. If the appended string is to be sent out a port then the "Port #" field should be specified and the "Output string max chars" can be set to 0 to preserve RAM (if the string is not to be used within the program) or specified to create space in memory for the string.
