Rugid Computer, Inc. was started in 1986.  The company's charter was then and remains presently to build high quality remote telemetry units (RTUs) for remote sensing and control applications.  The company has deployed seven distinct models since 1986, beginning with models specifically for water and wastewater applications, and expanding into models for monitoring and control of shipboard security, flood warning, petroleum wellhead safety, weather, dam safety, and others.

All models are designed to withstand the rigors of field applications including wide temperature extremes, electrical noise, vibration and humidity.  Since we began shipping in 1986 our units have logged more than 100 million operation hours in extreme environments including the hot, dry Saudi Arabian desert, subzero cold of the Sierra Nevada mountain tops, and the hot, humid underground vaults of Hawaii.  Our customers include numerous water and wastewater districts, AT&T, US Navy, US Army, LA Department of Water and Power, Desert Research Institute, Union Oil Company, Baker Hughes Tool Company, the US Corps or Engineers, Bureau of Reclamation, several OEMs and many others.
